Yes, the Sikh community living in Scotland is proud that thanks to the tireless efforts of MSP Pam Gosal, a function related to Baisakhi and Khalsa Sajna Diwas was held in the Scottish Parliament. Sikh congregations from various cities in Scotland responded enthusiastically to the invitation. The function was organized with the special support of the Scottish Gurdwara Council. After this Bhai Sukhbir Singh and Bhai Bhalwinder Singh entertained the sangat through kirtan. Bhujhangi Singh Singhanis, adorned with dumalas and keskis, also attended the function with kirtan and poetry. Gatka was performed by Scottish born sikh children to showcase their heritage which was highly appreciated by the MSPs present. Ms Pam Gosal, the first Sikh Member of Parliament on Scottish soil, warmly welcomed everyone from the Sikh community and said she had a “warm welcome in their Parliament”. After this Deputy Presiding Officer Liam MacArthur, Scottish Conservative Leader Douglas Ross, Labor Leader Anas Sarwar, Head of Chancery Asif Saeed on behalf of the Council General of India Edinburgh Office, Surjit Singh Chaudhary on behalf of the Scottish Gurdwara Council, Gursinder Kaur Khaira and others spoke. . Pam Gosal, who was happy with the gathering and discipline during the function, was seen congratulating everyone. Labor leader Anas Sarwar said in his address that the service rendered by the Sikh community in a bad time like covid was a proud moment for Scotland. “The Sikh community stands on every front but we want it to come forward to play an active role in the field of politics as well,” he said. At this time Surjit Singh Chaudhary spoke in detail about the historical significance of Sikh, Sikhi and Baisakhi days. It is to be mentioned that the function was attended by the administrators and sangats of Gurdwara Committees of Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee etc.
